How we choose
We don't make accessories simply because they're beautiful. Although that helps.
We ask: Will we still love it next year? Will you? Does it do what it's supposed to do? Does it feel as good as it looks? Will you reach for it again? And again?
We use great materials, thoughtful design and clever details.
We like accessories that solve life's little problems with ease. Things that pack without a fuss. Wear without worry. Protect from the elements. Do as they should. And look fabulous.
We're happy to pay more for quality.
Some things cost more. Better materials. Better design. Better construction. Better people behind it. A beautiful detail that has a purpose. Or occasionally... just because it's beautiful.

The person behind love Kate
love Kate was founded in Melbourne in 2013, although its beginnings were rather less glamorous than the hats or cashmere might suggest.
It started in my parents' garage. My brother cheering me on.
I've always been interested in why some things work better than others — the material, the proportion, the maker, the detail, the way something feels or makes you feel. I've spent a long time looking at what people want, how they live and what makes good design work.
Before love Kate, I completed a business degree, travelled the world as a trend forecaster and spent more than a decade at the helm of an international fashion brand.
So by the time I founded love Kate, I had a pretty good idea of what good looks and feels like.
Mediocre was never really an option.
And the older I've become, the more I think:
Better is better.
Less is more.
And, occasionally, more is exactly right.
Where things come from
Designed in Melbourne. Made with expertise from around the world. Made to go anywhere.
We work with makers and suppliers we know and trust — relationships we've built over a long time.
We care about the materials they use, the way things are made and the people behind them.
We choose natural fibres — materials selected for how they feel, how they perform and how they'll live with you over time, while leaving less behind.
Good things. Properly made.
And yes, it's a business
We want love Kate to continue being successful.
Not just successful-looking. Actually successful.
A business that makes great things, pays its bills, rewards good work and good people, and makes a proper profit.
We want to grow. But not at any cost.
We'd rather grow well. Thoughtfully. Profitably.
Good business and a good heart.
A little bit amused by life
Life gets serious often enough.
It doesn't always need to be.
I can be clumsy.
My hair is not always straight.
And I can't reach the overhead locker. Even in First. And I smile.
I like beautiful things. I love my parents. Fabulous hotels. Long lunches. Cashmere.
I also like feeding the ducks, dogs who think they're people and glimpsing a knowing smile.
